#89/365 King/Queen for a day

I guess in life you'd have many chances to ride a limo, for example, you or your parents could rent one for your prom / school ball, then you could hire it for your wedding, or on your birthdays.
I'm a very low key person, I've never been to a prom (not a tradition in my home country), our wedding we did it as simple as possible, and that's just left birthdays, well..I don't think so..haha , it's just not me!
Have you ridden on a limo before?

#88/365 A white billy-goat

As explained on our blog header and yesterday's post, goat is symbol of our town. I searched but couldn't find how the name was derived. One thing I did find out, it is a white billy-goat!

#87/365 Meeh

Kecske design or Goat design is created and painted by the public recently. The finished art is on exhibit at the mall. Why goat? Well, read the header of this blog and you will understand the significance of the animal. Goat also feature on the coat of arm; which I will post tomorrow.

#84/365 Miniature

The view from the roof top of the mall.
Most shops are close on Sundays except for the mall, that's how it is here. When the traffic slows down, life slows too.

#83/365 Let's just run now...

Half-marathon @ Vasarhelyi Marathon Futóvesztivál
We were there...... as spectator, of course. Although not a bad idea to participate next year, perhaps finally I could shed the excess 10kgs!

One more shot 'cos I like this one, too :) If you're wondering, I took this from the bus.

#82/365 Just in case...

Whenever I passed this pile of pallets, to be hacked into fire woods, I always thought "isn't it a bit excessive". Well, not anymore, since we are expecting another round of cold fronts.

On the other hand, I would love to get my erm.....hand on one of those pallets. It has potential to be a great roll-away table!

#80/365 Best display

At the spring festival...
This vendor is selling chimney cake , a type of pastry that is cooked over wood fire. You could order difference flavours, most popular are walnuts, coconut and cinnamon.

#79/365 So long, farewell...

I am sure most of us living in the northern hemisphere have had enough of winter and the erratic weather lately. We just want to be able to do more activities. Fingers crossed this is the last of the snow!

#update 6:28am:
I have a weekly weather widget on my browser. It is forecasting "flurries" come next Monday!  What?!

#78/365 Few minutes in the theatre

We are not theatre-going people; which means we haven't set foot in the town's theatre (József Katona Theatre) since we moved here! On Sunday, a walk in the afternoon coincided with one of the programmes.  When the door opened, I pretended to be one of the audience, walked coolly with my camera, took a few snaps and quickly walked out...phew! Nice interior, isn't it?

#77/365 Sensing spring

Yes, the sun shines longer, I hear birds chirping away, strawberries are available again at the local market, all the signs point to spring AND we even wore spring jacket last week. Yet, at the same time, the sky decided to open up and pour tons of snow on us... Suddenly, spring seems so far away!
Well, on the bright side, the sun came back strong yesterday and sending the snow away.

#76/365 They arrived much later

As the "crowd" were in front of the memorial, witnessing the placing of wreaths by VIPs (I am not sure who those people were aside from the mayor..) We heard drum beating, and much later these "soldiers" arrived. You might noticed their uniform are less decorated than the ones I posted earlier; except for the red trousers, love that!

#75/365 Men of the commemoration

Men in hussar uniform performing their "duty" on the March 15 commemoration. As expected, the turn out was low due to blizzard. Snow is fine but the wind was causing trouble. By the time I am done with the photo session, I have ruined an umbrella. Imagine how cold these men were, with those thin clothing!

#74/365 Live from the square

Yesterday I showed you the children's version of Huszár (Hussar) soldiers. Today the real deal was present at the March 15 commemoration. Due to the heavy snow, the planned events have been postponed to a later date. Hopefully, we will get to show you these hussars on horses when it happens. Till then..have a nice weekend!

#73/365 Couting down to holiday

Every year school children get to display and contribute to the commemoration of March 15 . Amongst the many contributions of flags and flowers , I found this Huszár (Hussar) soldiers unique and adorable. Study the uniforms and mustaches, one or two are different!

#72/365 Follow the Yellow brick road

"The yellow brick road, the road to success or happiness" - Wizard of Oz
I am not sure about the truth in the quote, but this yellow brick road will lead you to Liberty square ;)

#71/365 Checkmate

Living in a seasonal country, you learn to check the weather forecast a week in advance. Despite enjoying the wonderful sun shine in past week, it seems that winter plans to make a return this week...
Well, until then let's bring out the chess set and absorb some vitamin D!

ah..this was almost a good shot until the guy spotted me !

#70/365 Fans

Sunday...
I heard chanting, look out the bed room window and saw this group of football (soccer) fans gathering before a trip to the capital, for a match later in the afternoon.

The fans of this club (am not saying these people), I read, are known to be overly enthusiastic and at times get out of control, if you know what I mean... Anyway, I found out their team won.

#69/365 Peek

...through restaurant door. This act could only be done on early weekend morning before the business opens;  which I did this morning. I don't frequent this part of the town much, but I do know the former Greek restaurant is now a Grill station.

#67/365 Puzzled

Reading the town's coffee table book and online info., the Katona József Múzeum (est 1894) is as if still in operation. However, I took a walk there one day and found the museum in state of disarray. See it for yourself in the picture below
To say the national flag in the picture is dusty is an understatement! What a pity to see this gorgeous building in such a state. Hopefully the mayor's office will act fast before it really become an eyesore; especially that it is located right next to the main bus and rail station.

Location :-
6000 Kecskemét, Bethlen krt. 1

#65/365 Fornetti

We're at another Hungarian brand cafe. It is a straightforward set up and catering more for takeaways rather than sit down. But once in a while it is nice to just slow down for a cuppa + newspaper + chocolate linzer biscuits ...bliss!

About the cafe...
Fornetti bakery was founded in our town, starting as family business, in 1997. Later it offered franchise business, which is why you see them all over the country now and even a few abroad.

#64/365 Cafe Frei II

We featured Cafe Frei's chairs on this month theme day. Now we zoom out of the chairs and give you the interior. So, here is a view of the cafe from 1st floor of the library. It has very high ceiling. The wall is adorned with cow hide and portraits of people from around the world to coincide with the concept of global coffee and adventure.

#63/365 Please stay the same

As a kid, going to coffee shop (not the fancy kind but the casual Asian kind) means that our parents are giving us a treat. Later on, when I started working, going out to have coffee after work with friends or colleagues means it is time to unwind, complain about work and just relax.
When I see this old fashion cafeteria located in the Sunday market, it reminded me of the many occasions I spent in coffee shops back home. Nothing too fancy but always a joy.

#62/365 Sunday is for this!

Lángos, pronounced lang-gosh, a Hungarian deep-fried flat bread. You could eat it plain, which is what I preferred but most people order it topped with sour cream and grated cheese, like what you see in the photo. We usually have this only when visiting the Sunday market, of course you could have it anytime!

#61/365 Wild life

Can you see it? The deer?
We don't have a zoo in our town, but the waterworks company does keep a green area for the wild life. On a good day, you see herd of deer. The sight is just wonderful! Imagine these creatures are just next to the suburbs - so near yet so far. Alas, on the lucky day when we do see them, chances are my camera is not with me..grrr..but I have vowed one of these days, I am going to spend a whole day nearby to get a close up shot!

-----
Update:-
I was informed by commentator, Sala that we do have a wild park ; which my husband knew about :p. So, he said we could visit this coming summer!
Thanks, Sala!

#60/365 Cafe Frei {CDP Theme Day}

The theme this month is "cafe chair."
Which one do you prefer : The traditional cafe chair, the arm chair or the "bean" bag? Take your pick. Mine would be the arm chair!

You can see "cafe chair" around the world from other members'  here.

-------
A little on the cafe....
This cafe is located within the library and so we usually stop by the cafe for a drink whenever we're visiting the library.
Cafe Frei is a relatively well known cafe chain in Hungary as it is own by Támas Frei, a former tv personality turned coffee enthusiast.
I like the atmosphere and their concept of global adventure. Because of the global concept, it offers huge range of coffee from all around the world, without going through a middle man, so their prices are very reasonable.
