The annual flower show held at the court yard of the town hall.
We were there early Sunday morning and managed to catch the solo performance of a musician name Sándor Radics. It was thoroughly enjoyable and so is the CD we bought from him.

#321/365 Ice skating rink?

Since yesterday morning, these men have been slowly building something at the "zero metre" mark.
Today we were there again to have a closer inspection. Still no clue; but judging from the materials, my guess was it's going to be an ice skating rink for the winter season. My husband has his doubt.. As usual in such situation, we normally ended up with a bet of who wins the correct guess. Let's hope I win the 6 euros!

As a city daily photo blogger, it's necessary to take different routes in order to have things to post .. ha
and the extra trouble is worth it when you discover something like this! ;)

The frosted glass is found at the right wing of the town hall's building.

#186/365 Who is he?

Whenever I walk pass this building, the town hall, I study the details bit by bit. This time I found him plastered on the right "wing" of this structure. With this, I zoomed and read the text :  Rákóczi.
So, time for me to learn more about the Hungarian history.

Last Sunday and coming Sunday at 10 in the morning, town's people could enjoy live performance of this clarinet musician.

#88/365 A white billy-goat

As explained on our blog header and yesterday's post, goat is symbol of our town. I searched but couldn't find how the name was derived. One thing I did find out, it is a white billy-goat!

Statue of Lajos Kossuth stand looking at the town hall. Who is he? Let me extract from wiki :-

He was widely honored during his lifetime, including in the UK and the US as a freedom fighter and bellwether of democracy in Europe.

This statue was in commemoration of the recruiting speech he had give in our town on September 25th, 1848 as the leader of the Hungarian War of Independence.

Right above the entrance of TourInform is this very beautifully crafted ornament. I often ask myself :" why don't they make building like this anymore?" I also like how the chandelier showed a sneak peak. My next task is to take a close-up of the main entrance. Perhaps today I could achieve it, fingers crossed!

Kecskemét has been ranked town status for six and a half centuries. It was first owned by the Queen and later became a market-town. With this status, the town enjoys development free from the old feudal system.

More wear and tear shots, I'm afraid..
I was hesitant to post this as it is just so depressing to see the town hall not in the best of shape. The appearance of wear and tear normally intensify in winter months when the walls are wet and every "imperfection" could be seen.

The façade of the town hall is adorn with so many ornaments, some time is needed to take in every detail and I'm loving it!

As you can see, aside from the ornaments, the wear and tear is hard to miss. Am not sure of the immediate plans for the repairs, but my wish is they do it sympathetically and not over renew it.

The only times I got to see the interior of the town hall were first when we submit our application for civil registration of marriage and then on the day of the wedding itself. Both times were a bit of a rush. I know the building is a gem but my mind was occupied..haha

On Sunday, I took a solitude walk to the building and I'm glad I did it! I haven't been so excited in a building for long time (what can I say, I love details). Despite some obvious wear and tear, which I hope the town admin. will address it soon, the amount of creativity packed just at the entrance is amazing!

Whenever the weather is spring-like, just like what we experienced the last 2 days, it gives a lot more photo opportunities to capture details that you may otherwise wouldn't have been able to.

In this instance, I saw the beautiful light in the late afternoon from my window. I could see the tip of the tower was shining and was excited to capture the moment. And then, when I enlarge the photo later, I was surprised at how wonderful the details on the tower are.
