The siren of fire engine is very common noise pollution as we live near the fire department. However, we didn't hear any when black smoke was coming out behind these blocks of flats. Til this morning, we're still unclear what's the reason for the smoke. Well, we're guessing it is nothing to worry about ..

#138/365 Community garden

We don't have a garden; however, next to our building there are plots of vacant land.
In the last several years, few people have taken upon themselves to plant all kinds of flowers on the vacant plots. It really helps to beautify the area. I wish we could contribute, but with my black thumbs, I better not!

#137/365 Széchenyiváros

From the centre, you could see some of the housing estate at Széchenyiváros or Széchenyi Town. A town of 30,000 something people started around 1968.

This week has been slow in terms of photo opportunities; however, after digging around in the archive, I hope you don't mind that I give you again one of my favourite subjects : blue sky :)

Panel Flat is mostly high rise but there are smaller units, like the one seen above, which have between 3 and 5 floors. What drawn me to take this shot was the chimneys.

Behind those cables 'n such is apartment buildings. I know many won't be happy having this "monster"as their view everyday, let alone living so near it!

Panel Flats, known as Panelház in Hungarian is a type of housing built during the socialist era.
For our town, the works started in 1976, at that time 2500 units were being built per year.
Nationwide, since the 2000s, these flats are required to meet the energy efficiency code whereby the windows are being replaced with double glazed ones , the walls outside insulated, installation of new heating system and getting a new coat of paint  as part of the beautification process.

#12/365 Suburbia

Just thought I show you a neighbourhood we passed today. Normally, we hardly see anyone on the streets on weekdays, except for people waiting at the bus stops, but I'm rather surprised that it is this quiet on the weekend as well.

New and charming

That cottage style house is quite charming ; however, it is just odd to see it in this setting, next to a block of modern housing.

Behind the façade

A back courtyard hidden in the town centre. I enjoy vising places like this, too bad, they are not very well maintained.

Below zero

We got snow since 3 days ago. Now my weather feed reads " -7°c , but feels like -13°c" ... ha!

Gorgeous building, isn't it? look at that Juliet balcony and olive green, simply love it! :)

The trees provide a sense of peace to the otherwise heavy traffic infront of these houses.
