One complain though the menu only comes with french fries and not whipped potatoes with gravy, otherwise the classic and spicy chickens were perfectly fried!

For Christmas tree, we have a synthetic one because of easy maintenance. In saying that, I do see the appeal of choosing a real tree every year. Maybe one year we should get one...when I can get over the shedding.

#283/365 Belated theme day : Details

I totally missed the theme day on the 1st of Oct. and only remembered yesterday...

It was also yesterday that I first noticed these details on the shop front of an Asian clothing store. Admittedly the wood works have seen better days. But I'm going to concentrate on the fact that this shop owner actually made an effort to dress their shop front. As for me it's nice to come across pieces of my heritage in this European town.

...through restaurant door. This act could only be done on early weekend morning before the business opens;  which I did this morning. I don't frequent this part of the town much, but I do know the former Greek restaurant is now a Grill station.

We're at another Hungarian brand cafe. It is a straightforward set up and catering more for takeaways rather than sit down. But once in a while it is nice to just slow down for a cuppa + newspaper + chocolate linzer biscuits ...bliss!

About the cafe...
Fornetti bakery was founded in our town, starting as family business, in 1997. Later it offered franchise business, which is why you see them all over the country now and even a few abroad.

As a kid, going to coffee shop (not the fancy kind but the casual Asian kind) means that our parents are giving us a treat. Later on, when I started working, going out to have coffee after work with friends or colleagues means it is time to unwind, complain about work and just relax.
When I see this old fashion cafeteria located in the Sunday market, it reminded me of the many occasions I spent in coffee shops back home. Nothing too fancy but always a joy.

The theme this month is "cafe chair."
Which one do you prefer : The traditional cafe chair, the arm chair or the "bean" bag? Take your pick. Mine would be the arm chair!

A little on the cafe....
This cafe is located within the library and so we usually stop by the cafe for a drink whenever we're visiting the library.
Cafe Frei is a relatively well known cafe chain in Hungary as it is own by Támas Frei, a former tv personality turned coffee enthusiast.
I like the atmosphere and their concept of global adventure. Because of the global concept, it offers huge range of coffee from all around the world, without going through a middle man, so their prices are very reasonable.

#52/365 Love Letter

If you want to show your love to someone in this country, you buy them a heart shape honey cookie or known as in Hungarian, Mézeskalács Szív. Nobody eats them,  as it is for keep sakes and really more of a souvenir. Don't worry, it doesn't expire for a long long time.

I found this heart at a souvenir shop, mainly for tourist, with the name of our town (sorry cut off the "ét" from the name). I think it is rather unique as a gift to any friends back home.

When arriving/visiting a new city in Hungary, we like to stop by the TourInform office for brochures, discounts/promotion from local businesses and obviously information.

For Kecskemét, TourInform could be found at the main square, the corner wing of the town hall. The signage in national colours is hard to miss.

Marzipan sweets especially stuffed inside chocolate bonbons and truffles are popular gifts around this part of the world. One of the most well-recognised brands is with a portrait of Mozart on the box like the one you see above.

This shop is located at the arcade of shopping centre Alföld Áruház , address Deák Ferenc tér 6, Kecskemét.

Girly Cafe

Entering the Mini Kávézó makes you forget that it is cold and gray outside.

As this is quite new and our first time here, I was taking in the decor.

as you see, it is more of girls' cafe!

Overall experience : Ate a nice piece of apple cream cake & reasonably good milked coffee.

Art on sale

You can find small and medium art galleries around town such as the one above. However, I noticed that there are more classical than modern contemporary art on sale.
