The winner of this competition was the poppy seed cake , placed just behind the scones in front.

Aug 16 - "Virágok Barátai - Barátok Virágai" flower show

The annual flower show held at the court yard of the town hall.
We were there early Sunday morning and managed to catch the solo performance of a musician name Sándor Radics. It was thoroughly enjoyable and so is the CD we bought from him.

Enjoying the outdoor

Everybody around me loves summer. They love soaking up the sun, to the extend of over doing it. I'm the odd ball, I prefer to hide inside the shopping malls with the free air-cond (since my flat is hot as oven). When under the 40°c sun, I've considered using the umbrella (just like people do back home) ; but am too conscious to be the different one. After so many years, I think I just pretend to enjoy summer. So, let the sun tanning begins, after all summer is only for  short 3 months!

#52/365 Love Letter

If you want to show your love to someone in this country, you buy them a heart shape honey cookie or known as in Hungarian, Mézeskalács Szív. Nobody eats them,  as it is for keep sakes and really more of a souvenir. Don't worry, it doesn't expire for a long long time.

I found this heart at a souvenir shop, mainly for tourist, with the name of our town (sorry cut off the "ét" from the name). I think it is rather unique as a gift to any friends back home.

Check out more images of this special cookie with intricate designs here.

#49/365 Tour Inform

When arriving/visiting a new city in Hungary, we like to stop by the TourInform office for brochures, discounts/promotion from local businesses and obviously information.

For Kecskemét, TourInform could be found at the main square, the corner wing of the town hall. The signage in national colours is hard to miss.

Post WWII synagogue

This synagogue is no longer a place of worship due to it was unclaimed after WWII ; therefore, it is currently use as a conference centre and café.

It is one of the majestic landmarks in Kecskemét across the street from Cifra Palota on Szabadság square. According to the town's guide, the building was built between 1864 and 1871 in moorish-style
