Then later in the afternoon, we went to the race track only to find out that the admission is not free and didn't have money with us at all! and not enough time to run back for some ...gah..Until next year!

What a busy day it was on Saturday, in terms of the numbers of events held at the town square. We thought of making our way to the puppet show again (read yesterday's post), but we noticed this race going on. Of course, we stopped and cheered a bit. We chose these 3 shots to give you an idea of how some of our streets look like.

After all the cheering and snapping, we made it to the puppet show, the story and style weren't what we're expecting, so we left the show to wonder around. Guess what we saw next?

ps. Over here, we celebrated mother's day last Sunday; while my home country is celebrating this Sunday, wish all mothers Happy Mother's day!

I kind of like this mustard yellow Trabi!
Trabi, nick name for Trabant, was a vehicle manufactured in East Germany and commonly used during the communist era. In the city, you hardly see Trabant anymore. However, these days, the brand is sought after by the vintage car enthusiasts.

Lakastextil translates to "flat textile" literally. So, no prize for guessing what the shop is specialised in :D- Anyways, I like the signage. People just don't order signage like this anymore. When time comes, I hope the owner of this textile shop will choose to refurbish it instead of putting it to the landfill.

Open for business early Saturday morning. Normally I'd have no problem sitting alone enjoying a cuppa; but I just didn't have the mood for it this morning. Oh well, maybe next weekend.

#92/365 CDP Theme day : Pedestrian crossing

This theme makes me curious about  the number of crossings scattered around the centre (my brain is full of useless thoughts...). Let's make it easier by starting from where we live to the town square. I counted, based on memory, there are around 12 crossings, for not so big radius !
The one shown above is one of the newest and for that reason also the nicest. The Crossing will take you to Rákóczi Street.

Once again, I'm late in participating CDP theme day; which was yesterday. Anyway, you can see more crossings around the world here.

#16/365 A lot going on

A lot going on, rigth?  I mean the photo. Normally I prefer to compose less busy shots; however, I like how the scene is showing the day-to-day in our town.

First Boulevard

According to the town's coffee table book, the first boulevard was commissioned in 1903 after the existence of Rákócszi Street (Rákócszi Út).

In those days, writer Zigmond Móricz commented : "This is the most beautiful street in the whole country."

This boulevard lost its importance as time goes by; the good news is, it has been renewed and finished work in 2012. People of the town and tourists alike could start to appreciate the beautiful architecture in the new light again.
