#20/365 Naïve Museum

Don't be turn off by the shabby appearance of the Naïve Museum. In fact, I hope the museum's admin.don't refurbish too much when the time comes as to loose its charms.

Inside this moderate size building, you will find the largest naïve arts collection of Hungary. Whenever I visit, I find myself completely enjoy the seeming naïve arts, some even done by noted Hungarian naïve artists.

We planned to revisit this summer and wish you'd do the same :)

#19/365 Cloudy and flurries

My weather widget is currently reading "cloudy and flurries". I don't mind the flurries but cloudy I can do without. If you have similar forecast this weekend, I suggest you go (window) shopping, let the mall keeps you nice and warm, and energize! At least that's how I like to beat the winter blues ;)

#18/365 The school at the main square

Yesterday we wrote about pupil, today let's talk school. Specifically The Calvinish Secondary Grammar School and Academy, located within the main square. I don't know about your school; but mine was just a box type building. So, this is gorgeous to me. Although it doesn't seem much in this photo, it is rather elegant and full of hidden details waiting to please the eyes.

Architect, Valér Mende was once again commissioned for building of this school in 1911-1913.

#17/365 Mother hen

Why the title?
Well, whenever I see a group of pupil following their teacher in this fashion, it reminds of a chinese game I played as a child. The teacher is as if the mother hen in the game, guiding and protecting her "chicks".

A lot going on, rigth?  I mean the photo. Normally I prefer to compose less busy shots; however, I like how the scene is showing the day-to-day in our town.

#15/365 Luther Palace

Continuing from yesterday's post , let's take a closer look at the wood carvings I admire so much. Gorgeous isn't it? I do wished the satellite dish is not there..ha.
Judging by the appearance of things, I am guessing the building is being used as residential purposes rather than commercial ; although the ground floor is owned or rented by businesses.

Architect, Valér Mende was commissioned for this building between 1910 and 1912. He was said to belong to a group : "The Youth" representing a more up-to-date trend of Art Nouveau.

#14/365 Székely folk inspired

As this, one-time mansion of the Evangelist Church, is located at the busy part of the town, you may have not noticed the little details included in this building. I urge anyone who has the chance to pass this architecture to stop and take in the beautiful carvings done on the wood, which I read is Székely folk inspired.

Oh, and this place is known as Luther Palace.

Do you go to church on Sundays? 

The main entrance of the Great Roman Catholic church is busiest on Sundays. At 10 am, you will normally see a crowd at the front of the church

According to this survey , Hungary is no. 27 in church attendance.

#12/365 Suburbia

Just thought I show you a neighbourhood we passed today. Normally, we hardly see anyone on the streets on weekdays, except for people waiting at the bus stops, but I'm rather surprised that it is this quiet on the weekend as well.

#11/365 Past and Present

The former synagogue is standing tall still; but it was a different story on July 8th 1911, when an earthquake shaken the town where many buildings suffered damages.
